Proven Experience - Proven Results

By Michael B. Dufficy

Candidate for Judge, Superior Court; County of Marin; Office 3

This information is provided by the candidate
14 years as Judge, twice elected presiding Judge by his peers, Judge Dufficy has been a progressive leader of the Marin County Courts.
Judge Dufficy established the Juvenile Drug Court which emphasizes treatment rather than punishment for youthful offenders.

"Nonviolent youthful offenders need to be diverted to proven treatment programs and kept out of contact with hardened criminals".

As Presiding Judge, Michael Dufficy spearheaded the merger of the Superior and Municipal Courts. It is estimated that this merger saved the taxpayers several hundred thousand dollars a year in duplicated administrative expenses.

"At every opportunity I have worked to organize our courts to be more efficient so we can manage the increasing volume of criminal and civil cases at the lowest possible cost".

Judge Dufficy established the direct calendar system that resulted in reducing the time it takes to get a case to trial. Marin County now has one of the most current calendars in the State of California.

"Swift justice, especially in the protection of victims and punishment of violent criminals, is essential for the protection of safety and security of the people of Marin County."

Judge Dufficy created the Vertical Felony Panel that allows one Judge to hear all felony prosecutions from arraignment through trial and sentencing.

"Not only does the Vertical Felony Panel ensure the tough prosecution of violent criminals, it also saves taxpayers thousands of dollars a year".

When re-elected, Judge Dufficy will continue being a progressive leader. He is the only candidate with the judicial experience and legal expertise necessary to guide our court into the future.

"While I have done much, there is much more that still needs to be accomplished.

"I will work to provide more assistance to self-represented litigants, better protection for the victims of domestic violence, and to ensure that those struggling with drug addiction get the services they need. We must also protect those most vulnerable to crime, including our seniors and non-English speaking citizens.

"I would be honored to receive your vote so I can continue to make Marin County the safe, secure place we want to live and raise our families".
