Political Philosophy

By Daniel K. "Dan" Dik

Candidate for Superior Court Judge; County of Los Angeles; Office 67

This information is provided by the candidate
I am a conservative member of the Democratic party. I believe that individual responsibility has been devalued in our society in the past few decades. Rather, people appear to be more interested either in taking on the role of victim, or in appearing opportunistically to identify themselves with a given group of victims.

Rights and responsibility go hand in hand. For a civilized democracy to continue to exist, the exercise of one's rights in the abstract must not infringe upon the rights of one's neighbors, including the right to peace of mind.

The role of the courts is to protect society from dangerous individuals, to protect the individual from over-reaching by the State, to protect the individual from the temporary prejudices of the unthinking crowd, and to enforce the laws enacted by the elected representatives of the People.
