Candidate Statement

By Gail Jones

Candidate for Member; Alameda County Board of Education; Trustee Area 6

This information is provided by the candidate
I have been a small business owner in the Bay area for over 20 years and have served on the Alameda County Board of Education for the last eight. My priorities during that time have been a balanced budget, quality materials, and a safe clean environment conducive to learning. I have served on numerous committees and worked diligently for the best possible public education for our children. I have a Master's degree in social work and have my own psychotherapy practice. As an educator I have taught at San Jose State University, Foothill College, and Milpitas adult education. I have lectured to K-12 parent groups, high school students, teacher organizations, and radio and television audiences. I have written two educational books for children. In my career I have worked with children and know their issues; I am deeply interested in their well-being. As a resident of Fremont, my son was educated in our public schools; I am a strong supporter of a diverse public education system. The next four years I want to continue serving our community's children. I ask for your vote.
