MONROVIA SCHOOLS MUST ENSURE A PLACE FOR EVERY STUDENT

By Ed Gililland

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Monrovia Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
As Monrovia Unified School District strives to meet state and federal mandates, such as the "No Child Left Behind" Program, and the "Comite" program for English Language Learners; we must make sure that every student has the opportunity to excel.
We must insure implementation of plans and programs to improve academic achievement of each student. This must include continuing and expanding programs for English language learners, special education students, continuation students, and lower performing students, as well as the average and high achievers. We must continue to find new ways to meet the academic needs of every student while fostering an atmosphere that results in enthusiastic lifelong learners.

Ed Gililland recognizes the essential nature of implementing plans to improve academic achievement of each student. Programs for English Language Learners and low achieving students must be implemented while insuring that Monrovia Schools provides academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs that keep every student excited and involved. As plans were developed for all school sites, Ed consistently advocated for continuation and improvement of programs for all students including low, average and high achieving students.

Every student is important. Ed will strive for programs to meet the needs of each student.
