This information is provided by the candidate

First I am running because I very much believe in the importance of public education. I also believe in the importance of being part of and working for what you believe in. The School Board has done a good job. However there are always new ways to refocus and room for improvement and I am willing to work toward that.

As a parent of two college students, one a graduate of Oak Park High School and an 8th grade Medea Creek student, I believe a good education is not a luxury but a requirement in our society today. My husband, children and I moved to Oak Park four years ago and we have been impressed with the schools and the commitment of the community to quality education.

I have broad experience working (or more correctly volunteering) in school systems for 15 years in 3 diverse districts. I have been very active in our children's classrooms, PTA and PFC boards, Grad Night and the Oak Park Education Foundation. As well as all the extracurricular activities, sports, football, basketball, baseball, soccer and softball, performing arts clubs and the list goes on and on...

I also have experience working with others in a business environment and yes, whether we like it or not the school district is a business. I have worked in the biotech field for 25 years. Currently I teach biology and related subjects at Moorpark College. I feel I have an important mix of experience in business, teaching and working with, for and in the schools.
