Governing Board Member; Moorpark Unified School District

David Pollock is a 14-year resident of Moorpark and parent to two children in Moorpark schools since kindergarten. His ten-year history of involvement in Moorpark schools began in 1992 as chair of the district's Committee for Effective Schools. He was elected to the Board of Education in 1994 and again in 1998. He served as board president from 1998-1999 and has served on district committees for instruction, personnel, facilities and finance.

In addition to his service as a local school board member, David is a leading voice for public education at the county, state and national levels. He served for three years as president of the Ventura County School Boards Association. He currently serves as vice president of the California School Boards Association (CSBA), vice chair of the CSBA Legislative Committee, a member of the CSBA Collective Bargaining Task Force, a member of the CSBA Federal Issues Council, and a delegate to the National School Boards Association. David also serves on the board of directors of the statewide Cities-Counties-Schools Partnership.

Professionally, David is responsible for market planning at the rocket engine business of The Boeing Company. He is co-chair of an industry panel that assesses NASA programs and funding, and serves in an advisory role to the Federal Aviation Administration on commercial space transportation. He is a member of the national Space Foundation and the California Space Authority. David is a licensed commercial pilot and a certified flight instructor.

As a child actor, David appeared in numerous commercials, television features and motion pictures. He is best known for his role as Rudi Stein, the errant ballplayer in the Bad News Bears motion pictures. A special cable edition of the Bad News Bears, including David's recent commentary, is scheduled for broadcast Sunday, October 27 on ESPN Classics beginning at 6 p.m. Pacific.

David is a product of California public education. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Pepperdine University and a Masters in Business Administration from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. He is currently completing coursework for the CSBA Masters in Governance program.
