Working Together for Our Children!

I Support

  • Open dialogue between board, administrators, teachers, and parents
  • Greater communication between board and community
  • Expanded extracurricular activities at middle and high school
  • Appropriate education for every child.

The District has identified $17 million in building improvements needed for our growing schools. We have $6 million remaining from the issuance of the general obligation bonds in 1979 to build the school district. Our children deserve adequate, functioning facilities and we need to work together to determine how we will accomplish the designated building improvements.

Teachers were without a contract for all of last year. Now their negotiated COLA has been virtually eliminated by cost increases in health benefits. Teachers are our most valuable educational resource and we need to work together to ensure they are valued appropriately.

The educational needs of some of our special education and GATE children have been inadequately addressed. All of our children deserve an education appropriate to their needs and we need to work together to determine how to best meet these needs.

A number of programs are under-developed or wanting, notably performing arts in the high school, some athletic activities, and extra-curricular programs in the middle school. We are a growing district and we need to work together to grow our programs.

In Oak Park we are a small, close community of individuals and families that care about the education of our children. Parents and teachers are committed to ensuring that students receive a quality education. Working together we can improve an already superior school district. If elected to the Board, I will strive to provide the leadership the community expects from the Board to improve the educational experience of students in our district. I would appreciate your vote on election day.
