JIM RUSSELL Age: 51

Occupation: High School Principal

Education and Qualifications: The three main issues of my campaign are: re-creating California's once nationally top-ranked school system by moving control from Sacramento back to local school districts, assuring that transportation funds are predominantly used for highway improvement and expansion, and passing a balanced budget that is fair to all Californians and encourages job growth rather than job flight.

As your assemblyman, I'll bring practical experience and a much needed fresh approach to Sacramento. I believe the Legislature must set clear priorities, spend our hard-earned tax dollars judiciously, demand high-quality results, and be held accountable for those results. I'm a mainstream candidate: fiscally conservative, moderate on social issues, tough on criminals, a supporter of both women's reproductive rights and environmental protection.

I'm a lifelong resident of this area. I've been married for twenty years to Christine, a technology industry CFO. I've held public and private sector management positions, spending 25 years in education as a teacher, administrator and principal of Leigh High School. I've worked closely with the families of this community and know how to bring together divergent groups to create an outstanding result. With this experience, along with degrees in Political Science and Public Administration, I now want to put my knowledge to work for you in Sacramento.

I understand the 21st district and will bring this understanding to Sacramento along with a plainspoken, no-nonsense approach to governing. I'm not a career politician; I solve problems and get results. I'll be honored to have your support. Visit http://www.russellforassembly.org.
