Vince Hall's candidacy for the 78th Assembly District is the culmination of more than fifteen years of experience in the public and private sectors. His years of public service in local, state and federal government give him rare insight into the legislative process and a proven track record of consensus-building. His experience in the private sector has made him keenly aware of the importance of encouraging the growth of San Diego's high-tech business community as well as the importance of maintaining our region's long-standing relationship with the military.

As the staff director for Governor Gray Davis, Hall worked with the California State Legislature to deliver vital support for new parks, open space preservation, transportation and economic development projects in San Diego. Prior to the 1998 gubernatorial election, Hall served as the Communications Director for Lieutenant Governor Gray Davis. He previously served as the District Director and Technology Advisor to Congressman Bob Filner, and as a Council Representative for the San Diego City Council.

Vince is now sharing his extensive experience in federal, state and local government with the students of San Diego State University. As an educator and a parent, Vince Hall understands the importance of a good education. California must once again have the best schools in America if we are to be full beneficiaries of the new economy. Vince will work to raise standards and accountability while ensuring that our teachers have the resources they need to educate our children in a safe and productive environment.

Currently, Hall serves on the California Defense Retention and Conversion Council, where he is working to develop a strategic plan to prevent additional base closures in California. As a member of the Council, Hall works closely with government, military, political and community leaders to foster greater understanding and appreciation of the military's contributions to our region and state.

Hall also served on the Government Affairs Committee of Bio2001, which brought biotechnology leaders from around the world to San Diego. As a member of the Government Affairs Committee, Hall worked to educate government and community leaders about the economic and societal benefits of bioscience research and product development.

Hall's work in the private sector reflects his lifelong interest in technological development. Previously, Hall served as the CEO of SimpleGov.com, an internet start up company dedicated to providing web enablement solutions to state and local government. Hall is now sharing his experience as a CEO through his involvement with the San Diego Regional Technology Alliance (RTA). As a member of the Board of Directors of the RTA, Hall works with CEOs and political leaders to improve the climate for entrepreneurial growth while bringing educational resources to disadvantaged communities. In addition, Hall worked as a systems analyst for the Electronics and Space Systems Divisions of General Dynamics Corporation and a consultant and policy expert for D.R. Lema & Associates.

Vince is a former board member of the International Visitors Council, a member of the Sierra Club and a member of the League of Women Voters.

A graduate of San Diego State University, Vince has lived in the community for 17 years. Vince, his wife Susan and their daughter Elizabeth live in Kensington.
