I am running for Congress because I feel it is time to put an end to the arrogance and greed that has rooted itself in our government. As citizens of a representative democracy, we do not need to accept career politicians who take payoffs from Enron and other interest groups, while beating the drums of war to increase their own power.

I am also concerned that Congress is using the events of September 11 to violate our fundamental rights in the name of "security." These rights are guaranteed in the Constitution and we should not give them up lightly.

Although national security should be a top priority, we are re-directing too much money from our economy to a bloated military. We cannot insure our security by manufacturing more nuclear weapons. We need to resolve our foreign disputes through international law rather than fanning the flames by engaging in an open-ended war against an indefinite number of countries.
