Folks, my "Political Philosophy" is pretty simple:

The ends do not justify the means; the means shape the ends. I believe we need to mindful not just of our goals, but also of the things we do to achieve those goals. Bad means will taint even the noblest goal.

I also want to leave this world a little better than I found it, which I think is a great reason to serve on a school board.

Concerning the CUSD board, my goal is clear: putting the students first, second, and last.

Our Board is tasked with managing the CUSD, which educates our students. There is no room for other political agendas or goals that subvert the mission of the board. The interjection of political infighting over growth, grudges, social engineering or ego does nothing for the education of our students.

I've been told that politics on a school board is just a part of the process. I strongly disagree. The school board is described as a Board of Governors, not a Board of Politicians. Governance, not politics, should be the business of our CUSD board.

If elected, I intend to focus on giving our students a great education, and I'll do everything in my power to extract our schools from "politics". Our students deserve no less.

I am running with Dwight Wilson and Jolanda Scheurs. Between us, Dwight, Jolanda and I have over a 30 year record of support for the schools on the Coastside. We were part of the team which helped to get our school bond passed in 1996. While we don't always agree on everything, we're absolutely committed to putting the students first.

Vote for DWIGHT WILSON, JOLANDA SCHEURS, & ROY SALUME for the CUSD !
