Candidate's Statement

By Adam Mitchell

Candidate for Board Member; Ravenswood City School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I am a resident of East Palo Alto and have taught in Ravenswood for 3 years. I have a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University and a professional teaching credential.

School districts should belong to their communities. But ours has been removed from the people. Students have been left behind and parents have been ignored. Our schools' test scores are among the lowest in California, and our students are behind their peers entering high school.

I am running for School Board because we need to make changes in our district. For the last three years, I have worked with the students of this community in the classroom and in a garden project that I helped begin. I know what schools need to do their jobs effectively.

I want to be elected to the School Board so that I can promote responsible spening on programs for children, hire excellent teachers, and make sure our children are taught in facilities that are conducive to learning. I promise to bring in a fresh, new voice, one that is focused on educational achievement, not politics.

Please vote for me so together we can return Ravenswood to the students and the community.
