Candidate for
Board Member; Ravenswood City School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

MARCELINO LOPEZ Age: 55

Occupation: Greenskeeper

Education and Qualifications:

Hello, my name is Marcelino Lopez and I thank you for taking the time to read my statement. I have lived over thirty years in East Palo Alto and all of my children have attended Ravenswood City School District schools.

We know what needs to be done: Keep Good Teachers; The School Board must be accountable; Teach Parents how they can help their kids.

My Community Work experience includes Padres Unidos (5 years), English Learning Advisory Committee (ELAC) President & Vice-President at Edison-McNair, District (DELAC) President & Vice-President, Peninsula Interfaith Action (PIA) Board, SEIU Local 715 (Stanford, 15 years) Shop Steward and One East Palo Alto Board Treasurer (3 years).

We need an administration that really cares about our children. District staff needs to be more respectful to each other, that means both employees and supervisors. District officials have said they have done nothing illegal, maybe it is legal but it is also immoral.

I would rather go to 1,000 graduations rather than one funeral. County jails are full of too many of our youth. I believe our children have the potential to be good active citizens. We have to prepare our kids to go to high school and beyond.

/s/ Marcelino Lopez
