Rumor Control: Patriotism

By Mark Rickert

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Templeton Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Is Mark Rickert unpatriotic? No. Read on to find out why.
Rumors are circulating that I am unpatriotic and don't recite the Pledge of Allegiance. As is usually the case with rumors, this one is false. While I have not incorporated patriotism or the American flag into my campaign, my allegiance is certainly to our great nation.

What is ironic about this rumor is that it comes on the heels of the Templeton School Board Candidates' Forum held the evening of Saturday, October 26. Not only did I recite the Pledge of Allegiance that night, but I did it with more than the usual sense of pride.

You see, my son Joshua, a Boy Scout working toward becoming an Eagle Scout, participated in the Color Guard ceremony and read a patriotic statement to the audience just prior to the recitation of the Pledge.

I hope, in an effort to uncover the truth, voters will make direct contact with candidates who are the subject of rumors.
