Smart Voter Political Philosophy for George B. Dodge

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Atascadero Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I believe:

  • That we can improve the educational oppotunities of young people while at the same time creating a positive, productive environment for staff.

  • That young people need to be exposed to consistent messages about what's important and what is expected of them from their families, schools, communties, the media and other sources.

  • That it takes the whole community to nurture competent, caring, and healthy children.

  • That the school board should provide the community with information and leadership on educational issues and advocate for the children and public education at local, state and federal levels.

  • That schools should provide a caring environment for all students and encourage their commitment to life-long learning.

  • That we need to expand, diversify and strengthen co-curricular activities and service opportunities for youth.

  • That we need to involve youth in meaningful leadership activities.

  • That we need to provide the resources and incentives to our staffs to insure that we have and keep the best people available to work with our students.

  • That we need to insure that our facilities are up-to-date and in good repair.
