Ballot Statement

By Michael "Mickey" Cafagna

Candidate for Mayor; City of Poway

This information is provided by the candidate
When my wife, Sharon, and I married in 1965, we dreamed of living in a wonderful community where we could enjoy life with our family. That dream came true when we were able to move to Poway in 1976. While raising our two children, Stacy and Kevin, and enjoying our grandchildren, Josh and Jared, we felt the need to return some of the benefits we enjoy by living in Poway. Our active community involvement led me to serve on the City Council since 1992.

Poway has become the Jewel of the County with an unsurpassed Quality of Life. We have maintained the lowest crime rate in the county, while creating over 13,000 jobs in our business park. We have managed our growth, while experiencing the highest property value growth rate in the county. We have maintained balanced budgets, while accumulating ample reserves for services the community needs, and for future infrastructure improvements and replacement.

Poway is now facing problems from the regional transportation and housing problems outside our city limits. As the current Vice Chairman of our regional planning agency "SanDag," I will work towards solving these serious regional threats to our quality of Life.

On my last ballot statement I promised you that if I was elected Mayor, I would continue Poway's tradition of strong leadership, and further enhance "Poway's Quality of Life". All of my efforts have been true to that promise. Our community deserves leaders that will continuously pursue the improvement of the city we all love. I once again offer my service to work with the other council members, city staff and interested Poway citizens to keep us focused on this goal.
