Fiscal Accountability in Public Education

By Mark F. Underwood

Candidate for Board Member; North Sacramento School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I do not support placing local school bond measures on the ballot unless absolutely necessary.
School districts must be held accountable to the voters for the money they spend, since it is the voters that pay property taxes to help keep public schools funded and operating. Seniors and disabled persons on fixed incomes can no longer afford to pay continual property tax increase with no accountability as to how the money is spent or where it is spent. School dollars need to be spent more wisely through fiscal restraint and sound accounting practices. This will help to provide public schools with a solid financial footing for future years. School districts should not be spending your money on wasteful items such as salary increases for administrators and construction of new administration buildings. Expenditures need to be justified and wasteful, frivolous spending hurts our kids!
