My name is John Taylor; I'm 43 years old and, I've been married 10 years to my wife Angela. We have lived in the Elk Grove Unified School District for eight years. I am the owner of a small business called John Taylor Painting&Handyman and am also the Sexton at St Mary's Episcopal Church.

I became a college re-entry student at age 39 and last year graduated with honors, with an Associate in Arts Degree in General Education from Cosumnes River College. I am a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and am continuing my education as a communications and speech major. My career goal is to obtain teaching credentials and become an instructor in the kindergarten through twelfth grades.

I have three and a half years of experience as the publisher/editor for The Elk Grove Observer Newspaper and ten years of owning John Taylor Painting & Handyman. Both of these companies mandated a strong work ethic and excellent management skills. In fact, my work ethic is what I take the most pride in. I am a highly motivated, self-starter and learned how to operate within a strategic yearly plan with staff and budget constraints. I also bring a strong asset in my ability to articulate well with others, a necessary quality for the position of EGUSD Area 2 Trustee.

Community Service Accomplishments: Chair, St Mary's 7th Annual Rummage Sale, 2002, Judge, Western Festival, 2001 and 2002, Chair, Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce Salute to the Red, White & Blue 4th of July 2001, Publisher/Editor of the Elk Grove Observer Newspaper 3/1/98 to 10/1/01, Candidate for Los Rios Community College Area 7 Trustee, 2000, Outstanding CRC Student Community Service Award, 2000, CRC Associated Student Government Student Body President, 1999-2000, Chair, CRC Campaign 2000 General Election Candidate Forum, 2000, Founder, Sacramentan's To Rescue Animals, 1997
