Biography

I was born and raised in the Toledo, Ohio area. I moved to Oregon as a young collegian at Oregon State University in 1979. I graduated in 1983 with a BS degree in Meteorology. I began working for the National Weather Service while in school and after graduation in 1983 I was assigned to duty at the National Weather Service office in Sacramento. I now work for a branch of the National Weather Service called the California-Nevada River Forecast Center as a senior hydrologist. My duties include flood and water supply forecasting along with computer system development and maintenance. I met my wife, long time Folsom resident, Kathy (Engelhart) Morin in 1985. We were married in 1987 and moved to Folsom and the house we live in today in 1988. We have 2 children, both boys ages 7 and 10 who attend Folsom Hills Elementary school.

My brother Vince, with whom I am very close, moved to the area in the late 1980s. Vince brought with him his background in restaurants and we quickly began searching for opportunity like our paper route when we were kids. We've experienced the trials and tribulations of small business ownership and a family partnership for the past 13 years. Today we own and operate The Balcony Restaurant on Sutter Street in historic Folsom and Susie's Country Oaks Café in Roseville.

I enjoy watching and playing all sports. As I have become older (now 41) and my body listens to me less, I play more golf and less of my old staples of basketball and softball. Like you, I have a deep sense of commitment to my family, friends and the community of Folsom.

Affiliations and Activities

My record of community service is a reflection of my pride in the City of Folsom and my desire to improve its future for everyone. I'm well prepared to put my experience in community affairs to work for you, locally and regionally. It has been a pleasure and a privilege meeting and working with so many in Folsom throughout the years. I proudly count the following as my list of accomplishments and associations.

- Member, Folsom Schools Bond Oversight Committee.
- City of Folsom, Planning Commissioner.
- Chair, March 5, 2002, Measure C, School Bond Campaign - Passed at 68.6%.
- Treasurer, Folsom Public Library Foundation.
- Member, Folsom Friends of the Library.
- Member, Sutter Street Merchants Association.
- Member, Folsom Chamber of Commerce.
- Board Member, Folsom Sea Otters Swim Team.
- Coach, Folsom Little League Baseball.

I look forward to meeting and serving with many more of you in the future.
