By Robert J. "Bob" McGarvey

Candidate for Council Member; Proposed City of Rancho Cordova

This information is provided by the candidate
I support Measure W on the November 5, 2002 election which will incorporate Rancho Cordova into a city. I have been working to place cityhood on the ballot for 24 years.
Dear Rancho Cordovans: As Chairman of the Rancho Cordova Incorporation Committee since January 1986, I have demonstrated my dedication, perseverance, experience, and commitment to cityhood. Now, I am asking for your support to become a member of the first City Council of Rancho Cordova.

I served In the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965, and I finished my four years at Mather A.F.B. My wife and I have been residents of this wonderful community for thirty-five years. All four of our children attended Rancho Cordova elementary schools and graduated from Cordova High School. I have a B.A. in Government with minors in Economics and Sociology from California State University Sacramento.

I have been endorsed by many Rancho Cordova citizens, and I am also very proud to be endorsed by Lou Blanas, Sacramento County Sheriff; Anthony Pescetti, California Assemblyman 10th District; California 5th District Senator Michael Machado; Susan Patterson, Vice-President of SMUD Board of Directors; Brian Cooley, President of the Sacramento County Board of Education; Roger Benton, Folsom/Cordova Unified School District Trustee; and the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff's Association.

I am honored to have been serving as the Chairman of the Rancho Cordova Incorporation Committee since January 1986. Also, I currently serve on the Restoration Advisory Board at Mather (toxic clean up), the Mather Community Campus (transitional housing project) Community Advisory Committee, and the Cordova Community Planning Advisory Council (CORPAC). Moreover, I formerly served as President of the Cordova Community Council, Board Member of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the Cordova Community Council Fourth of July Fireworks Committee. Additionally, "The Grapevine Independent" named me as the Rancho Cordova "Rancher of the Year" in 1987.

My continued dedication, knowledge and commitment to our community as demonstrated by twenty four years of experience working on incorporation uniquely qualify me to serve the Rancho Cordova Community.
