Steve Ly is a leader in school safety and collaboration. For the last ten years he has been engaged in collaborative efforts to promote peace and harmony in our schools and communities. Currently, Steve administers an innovative violence and weapons prevention program at the Sacramento County Office of Education called Project SAVE ( Safe Alternatives and Violence Education).

As a coalition builder, Steve's distinguished leadership skills are a major asset to collaborative efforts such as Project SAVE. Inclusive in this collaboration are the County Office of Education, County Probation Department, County Sheriff's Department, Sacramento City Police Department, and the sixteen school districts in Sacramento County.

Steve's work to improve the quality of life involved him in activities with the Sacramento Area Congregations Together (ACT). His work with Sacramento ACT connected him with those who are most under-served and overlooked. He became an advocate and took a leadership role in asking local government agencies to address language barriers for citizens. He also supported school bond initiatives and efforts to improve neighborhoods. Steve later became an officer in Sacramento ACT by being elected as Vice President.

A product of the public school system, he grew up in the Central Valley and relocated to the Sacramento region to pursue a degree from UC Davis. After earning his bachelor degree in Political Science and Sociology, he commenced the study of law to obtain his Juris Doctor. Steve lives in Elk Grove with his wife, a teacher, and their soon to be born son.
