Doug and his wife Marchelle have three children and five grandchildren. Doug and Marchelle live on a ranch in Latrobe and have owned it since 1977.

Doug has served the community in many law related activities including being a speaker and lecturer for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) as well as serving as a mentor on the Teen Court and Drug Court programs. Additionally he was on the Board of Directors and was an officer for Legal Serivces Corp. Doug has provided pro bono legal services for many residents of El Dorado County.

Doug served in the United States Army from 1961 through 1966 when he was honorably discharged. As a VietNam era vet, he attended law school under the GI Bill, graduated in 1970, and was admitted to the California Bar. Doug is also licensed to practice before five different courts, including the District of Columbia.

Doug was fortunate enough to have had a case before the Appellate Courts of this state where the legal question had never before been decided in all of California history and as such set a legal precedent.

Doug also challenged the IRS in Federal Court and was successful!

Doug, who is seeking Office #1, has the broadest and most diverse legal background of any candidate running for any of the three judicial positions. He clearly has extensive experience as a judicial officer and as a trial attorney.

Doug is respected by elected officials, judges, and other attorneys throughout the state. He is known not only for his vast knowledge but for his work ethic and his complete integrity.
