Position Papers
Solve concerns at lowest level needed - avoid state interference
One size seldom fits all. Most issues can be solved at the local level. Legislative action is rarely needed, but most politicians don't agree. My main task in the Assembly would be to ensure that only truly needed legislation is passed.
Require sunset clauses in all legislation and agencies - remove deadwood
Many proposals are enacted without ever checking back to review the results. All proposals should specify what results are to be expected and by when. Retaining enactment will require successful reviews.
Institute freedom-based actions rather than governmental mandates
Far too often, government mandates what people can and cannot do, whether or not it makes sense. It would be far better to treat people individually, making determinations based on freedom and responsibility rather than mandates.
