Biography

Ellie Michaels was born Patricia Eloise Mann in a small town in Arkansas. Her mother was a bookkeeper and her father was an Arkansas State Police OfÞcer with a talent for music. Michaels married her hometown sweetheart, Michael Smith, and they set out to discover life outside Arkansas. Her husband's career in electronic sales took them to Missouri, Illinois, Florida, Michigan, and California.

Early in her career, Michaels worked as a sales representative for A.H. Robbins, a consumer products company. She also sold media advertising for WCJB-TV in Florida and pursued a career in modeling and acting, earning an Addy Award in recognition of advertising excellence. She took the name "Ellie Michaels" upon joining the Screen Actors Guild, performing in commercials as well as in educational and training videos. She is also a member of the Association for Independent Music.

In 1996, Michaels founded Ellie Michaels Music, which produces, licenses, and distributes music for advertising, promotion, and campaigns.

Her commitment to children's issues converged with her musical talents when Michaels composed the Þrst of many politically / socially conscious songs. "Two Way Street" for the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in Santa Clara. Working with the YWCA board of directors, Michaels gifted the organization the rights to the song, which is used for fund raising and radio public service announcements.

Another song, "Where Were You?", composed jointly by Michaels and her daughter, Stevi, was gifted to Saint Mary&and All Angels' School in Aliso Viejo, California.

Schools use the educational music kit, "No Child Left Behind", produced by Ellie Michaels Music, as a bridge to improved communication between teachers, children, &and communities.

The "No Child Left Behind" theme song was used by the National Federation of Republican Women and the California Republican Party during Campaign 2000. Michaels has performed the song at numerous events throughout the western and southern United States and has received commendations from John Rutherford, president and CEO &of the YMCA; Ventura County District Attorney Michael D. Bradbury; California State Assembly members Tony Strickland and Keith S. Richman, M.D.; Ari Fleisher, Press Secretary to President George W. Bush. The success of "No Child Left Behind" led to an ofÞcial invitation to the inauguration of President Bush.

An enthusiastic proponent of parental involvement in children's education, Michaels is involved in a wide range&of organizations that support her beliefs, including: The Child Advocate Groups in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties An organization that serves youth from newborn to age 18 who are victims of severe physical or sexual abuse, abandonment, &or neglect.

KTEH-TV and Speaking of Women's Health Convention Educates and enlightens women about health care issues which affect their personal health and wellbeing.

Junior League of San Jose An educational charitable organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing women's potential, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Ellie Michaels resides in the Ventura County city of Thousand Oaks, California with her husband of 30 years and their 15 year old daughter, Stevi, where she and her family attend Calvary Community Church. Michaels believes passionately in the importance of parental involvement in education and the community, a belief that has been the catalyst for creating music with a social conscience. She enters the race for California Lieutenant Governor on a platform of parental involvement in education, timely information on pending legislation, and a balance between responsible protection of the environment with productivity in our free enterprise system.

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Northern Illinois University, attending college on a Talented Student Scholarship. Received awards in speech competition and writing.
