I'm hear to listen and learn about all the problems facing Valley residents. And I look forward to working with all Valley residents to develop solutions.

I believe in the free market system, competitive capitalism, and private enterprise afford unlimited opportunity and the highest standard of living for all.

I believe in the dignity of the individual. I welcome and encourage the participation in our Nation of individuals from every walk of life and from all ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. Judging others only by character and ability as I wish to be judged myself our common bond is a love for liberty and freedom.

I promise not to be a "wet blanket". A "wet blanket" is described as "a person or thing that quenches or dampens enthusiasm, pleasure or the like." I will do my best to be a candle lighter, more anxious to improve than disapprove, more interested in getting action than fixing the blame for inaction, more concerned with winning cooperation than winning arguments.

I will do my best to maintain my sence of Humor. During the dark days of the War between the States, Abraham Lincoln confided to a friend, "With the fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh, I should die." With the seriousness of the problems facing Americans today, it is all too easy to see only the dark side of things.

By keeping my sense of humor in the midst of vexing situations, particulary when dealing with the public, I lighten the burden for everyone, including myself.

I'm hear to listen and learn about problems Valley residents face. In summary, I will strive, by all honorable means at my disposal and to the limits of my energies and abilities, to help in bringing about soultions to the people's needs according to the peoples instructions.

Respectfully,

Ricky Martin
