  • One of 40 educators selected nationwide in 1971 to receive the prestigious Mott Foundation Fellowship for Doctoral studies in education.
  • B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Education.
  • Married to Marcia, a teacher in the Las Lomitas School District, for 38 years, with two daughters, both of whom attended public schools in San Mateo.

  • Empower teachers and school districts to raise academic achievement by providing top-quality teacher training and curriculum assistance.
  • Deliver fiscal accountability to tax payers by ensuring that all school districts and charter schools operate with balanced budgets.
  • Fight for higher funding and local control of spending, curriculum & textbook decisions. We need less "strings" attached to state funds for schools.
