In my opinion, there is currently an abundance of plumbing and chemistry expertise and a crushing lack of conflict resolution skills on the board. I have run an entirely positive campaign because I want to come to the board as a friend, not as an adversary. Except to learn from past experience I see little to be gained by revisiting the past and pointing fingers. I know many on the board share this sentiment.

With interest rates at 40 year lows, and tax-exempt municipal bonds in great demand, it is simply imperative that the LGSD board quickly identify its capital needs for the next 10 years and fund those needs now before this historic opportunity is lost at great expense to the rate payers. This board not only needs to be effective, it needs to be exceptionally effective to capitalize on its opportunities.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade:

The LGSD has surplus water it is trying to find ways to use. It has an abandoned NIKE missile silo adjacent to its facility. Hamilton Field has methane gas leaking all over and it is currently pumping unprocessed rain water into the bay. Meanwhile, the state is paying record rates for electrical power. To generate and distribute electrical power one needs fuel (methane gas), water for cooling (lots of that) a solid platform for mechanical apparatus (NIKE missile silo), distribution lines (2 sets within a thousand yards) and rail right of ways to move heavy equipment to the site and for possible additional natural gas supply lines. It may be possible for the LGSD, using the many cheap and free inputs to the generation process, to become entirely self funding. My initial discussions of this plan with the Calpine Corporation have be very well received in spite of them not wanting to take sides in a political contest. Making this facility entirely self-funding would radically change the tone of discussions about what is possible at the LGSD. Sanitation rebate checks? It might just be possible.
