Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Lawrence H. Loder

Candidate for
Director; Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District

This information is provided by the candidate

I am a candidate for the following reasons:

1. Excessive Litigation" I will negotiate not litigate"

The current board has spent nearly $1.7 million on attorney fees and litigation settlements with no results. This is 70% of the districts yearly operating budget -- equates to $150.00 for each homeowner.

In prior years the district's actions forced the Los Ranchitos residents into litigation which resulted in homeowner connection costs averaging $30,000.

I will strive to work with residents and other agencies to " negotiate" rather that litigate solutions

2. A 50 Year Old Plant " I will work to modernize"

Portions of the treatment plant are nearly fifty years old and need upgrading. A 5 to 10 year improvement plan needs to be developed that provides for a systematic and affordable approach to modernize the plant.

I will strive to work out a long-range improvement plan to systematically" modernize" the plant

3. Board Public Demeanor " I will listen and discuss"

Board meetings have become argumentative and divisive, with routine issues becoming extensive debates between board members, continuing without timely resolve.

"I will listen and discuss" to bring civility and professionalism to board meetings and decision making
