Capital improvements needed

Develop HCSD wells to reduce reliance on costly HBMWD water
Much of the water HCSD delivers is purchased either directly or indirectly from Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District (HBMWD). In the next few years HBMWD will be building a new filtration plant. This and other factors will likely increase significantly the cost of the water that HCSD purchases from HBMWD.

This will make it more advantageous to develop and improve the district's least expensive water source: HCSD's own wells. These changes will entail significant capital improvement projects and will require a board with vision, experience, judgment, and a balanced view of the needs of the community.
