About Brian Rees, M.D.

Born in Long Beach, the son of schoolteachers, Brian Rees has lived in the Bay Area, the San Joaquin Valley, Southern California and the central coast most of his life. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara, he attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated with both an M.D. and a Master's degree in Public Health. A residency in family practice and seven years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps followed. He is currently a Colonel in the reserve, the commander of a hospital unit in Irvine, a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College. This experience and military schools have given him insights into issues of national defense and Department of Defense funding.
Since 1987, he and his wife have been the sole proprietors of a private medical practice, running a business, meeting a payroll. As such, he is well aware of the needs of small business owners, the millstone of excessive government regulations, the necessity for health care reform for working families and businesses, the need for relief from inappropriate litigation, and the burden of inordinate taxation.
He and his wife have two beautiful children who both attend our public schools. He is well aware of the essential role of public education in our society, and is committed to contributing to a safer and healthier world for all of our children: a world with less crime, less substance abuse, less pollution, less division and strife in society, and more and better jobs.
Dr. Rees is a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
