I strongly support public charter schools. Were it not for public charter schools, the level of frustration with public education among many parents would be even higher. Every time a meritorious petition for a public charter school is granted by a local or county board, several hundred dedicated and resourceful parents remain within the support structure of public education where they are desperately needed. Vouchers will be much less an issue in California if public charter schools are allowed to operate, without unnecessary roadblocks. |
