Clean, Safe, Affordable Water

By Evan Evanoff

Candidate for Director; Nipomo Community Services District; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate
The NCSD will not continue to provide clean, safe, affordable water if the present rate of urban growth doubles the demand on the Nipomo Mesa ground water.
The NCSD has enough capacity now to serve the people of Nipomo, but we could not continue to do so if more developments double the demand for our ground water. Water experts also agree that more urbanization deteriorates the quality of ground water.

The incumbent NCSD Board recognizes that we may be in for a problem of short water supply. They are studying possibilities for alternative water sources. Those alternatives may be too little, too late, and much more expensive.

Litigation is in process and it may affect how much of our present water use we will be allowed. The worst impact of this would hit us when our present wet cycle turns into a drought cycle. Then, much more water would be pumped while much less water would recharge the table.

The NCSD Directors are elected by and should represent the best interests of the people in the District. The best way to serve you is to give you honest, accurate information so you can make intelligent decisions about urban developments here.

Let's not wait until our Nipomo Mesa ground water is in short supply. If we let that happen, we may find our water will be much more expensive and of poorer quality. I'm speaking from 35 years of experience in dealing with ground water problems. Our Nipomo Mesa ground water is our only supply we can count on. The number of people in Nipomo has increased from six to more than nine thousand since 1994. New developments are in process everywhere you look.

Elect me to the NCSD Board. I will search diligently for the best ways to deal with these problems of water quality and expense. I will also give you honest, accurate facts about your vital water supply.
