Smart Voter Political Philosophy for David Riloquio

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Santa Maria-Bonita School District

This information is provided by the candidate

If Elected I will work to:

RESTORE COMMUNITY TRUST - Visit our schools during and after school. Encourage board members to attend student assemblies and acknowledge those receiving academic awards. Provide encouragement to our students, teachers, principals, and classified staff.

IMPROVE ACADEMIC SCORES - Work closely with teachers in searching for new and exciting teaching methods to improve test scores. Increase parent involvement at all of our school sites. Implement "The America Reads Program" at every school site.

INCREASE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT - Invite our community to once again invest in our public schools by volunteering. Develop "curriculum buddies," with our volunteers, to primarily focus on improving test scores. Look at developing an "internal" website for each school site. The website will include events such as, PTA or PTC meetings, fund raisers, and names of those students receiving academic awards. We must rebuild our trust within the community!
