I served as board president twice during two terms and worked successfully to bring millions of dollars of new funding to the district for instructional programs and building repairs. I promote academic excellence and advocate safe schools free from drugs and violence while seeking adequate funding and insisting upon academic and fiscal accountability.

I will continue to encourage the development of a societal attitude that is supportive of education and an attitude receptive to taking responsibility for education. My belief is that education is a societal necessity and responsibility. Prior generations provided educational opportunities to our current population. I think it is the responsibility of adults to assist in educating younger persons. That responsibility includes providing guidance and assistance wherever and whenever they can.

I will continue to emphasize the development of self-esteem, the desire to learn, and positive attitudes toward getting along with other persons.

More specific goals include:

Ø increasing pupil achievement levels,

Ø providing a safe environment for learning and working,

Ø and seeking funds to enhance the ability of the district to provide high quality programs and maintain modern high quality equipment and facilities.

As board president, I nurtured a spirit of cooperation among board members, employees and community members. The success of any governing board is dependent upon the ability of members to work together. I will continue to encourage cooperative problem solving and rational decision-making.

The district has received many well-deserved accolades while I have been a member of the board. I am pleased that I was helpful in creating the conditions that allowed the district to achieve so well.

My professional career has been devoted to education and I have genuine concern for students. My belief that societal improvements can best be achieved through education motivates me to continue active involvement in the educational process.

Please join me in this effort through your support for my reelection. Thank you for your consideration.
