Greg Jones was elected to the Board of Education in 1992. He is particularly interested in curriculum and instruction, student diversity, professional standards, and school reform efforts. Another top priority is ensuring that all students have access to a quality education.

Greg and his wife of 34 years, Joyce, have seven children, all of whom have attended schools in the Elk Grove district. As a parent, he served as president of the advisory group for the district's Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program.

Greg works as an electrician for the Sacramento County waste water treatment plant. He also has taught adult school in Fairfield and served as an instructor at Sacramento City College.

Greg has been active in his community for many years. He has served as a member of the Elk Grove Planning Advisory Council, the county's General Plan Ag-Res Subcommittee, and the Sacramento County School Boards Association. He helped keep the Elk Grove Community Christmas lights burning. He worked with the CHP, the county, and the CSD to get light controlled crosswalks in Elk Grove.

Greg holds an associate of arts degree from Cosumnes River College and a quality management certificate from American River College. He has also attended the University of California, Davis; California State University, Sacramento; and Solano Community College.
