We can do it.
It's time to put kids first. To meet the challenges of the next generation, our students must be prepared. That means we have to create a teaching environment where healthy, well-fed kids can learn safely, where there is zero tolerance of drugs and violence and where teachers are supported to do what they do best--teach.

It means teaching kids values for life and encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves. It means giving schools the tools they need to remove obstacles to student achievement. It means empowering parents to get involved in their child's education. Schools must add value to the community.

It means building on the basics in teaching reading and math, because the basics of yesteryear are no longer enough to prepare our kids for the challenges of tomorrow.

Our kids are only in each grade once, so every day in class matters. What they learn there has to stay with them. Because school is for life.
