Hi, I'm Karen Benson and I'm running for Mayor of California City. I have been working for the Federal Government for over 33 years and am currently working at Edwards AFB in Contract Management where I am the Administrative Contracting Officer for all Flight Test of new air vehicles and weapons systems.

In 1994 I was elected to a 4 year term on City Council. The last two years I served as the Vice Mayor. While serving as the Vice Mayor I was the Cities representative to the Kern Council of Governments (KERNCOG). While serving on KERNCOG I was instrumental in getting support from the other Kern County Cities on KERNCOG in getting two projects in the planning and funding phase. One was for the widening of Hwy 14 & California City Blvd. as a temporary measure until the money was available for an overpass/interchange. Prior to City Council I served 3 years on the Planning Commission. I am currently the Treasurer for the East Kern Historical Society.
