My leadership will be characterized by:

  • a willingness to listen
  • an ability to cooperate with others to reach consensus, to solve problems and to attain goals
  • independent decision making
  • integrity and honesty

I am running for City Council because it is time to restore a high caliber of leadership in the Second Ward. Over the past few months I have spoken with people throughout my ward and with business and community leaders throughout the city who believe it is time for a change. It is time to elect a leader who approaches challenges and opportunities in a positive manner. I won't just identify problems, I will work for solutions.

I will be reponsive to my constituencies. I will establish regular office hours at City Hall, so that people will know that I am available to them and when they can reach me each week.

I offer fresh leadership based on independence, intelligence and integrity. After twelve years of the incumbent, it is time to introduce fresh insights and look to the future. I have raised my family here, in our historic downtown. I know the value of neighborhood. I have been a leader in mine and have brought people together to make a stronger community. Let's work together to keep Bakersfield a great place to call home and to lay the path for our future opportunities.
