BA degree in Natural History, 1979, HSU. Post-graduate studies, forestry and botany, 1980-1983.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Business Owner: Milestone Software: custom software, scientific applications, graphics, since 1985. Previously: Scientist: Botanist, Vegetation Ecologist: National Park Service, HSU Foundation, private consulting. Ranger Naturalist: National Park Service, Lassen Volcanic National Park. Organization: Executive Director, Smith River Alliance; Administrative Assistant, Northcoast Environmental Center. Journalist/Writer: various print titles: news, opinion, natural history, politics, history & philosophy. Photographer: natural history photography.

VOLUNTEER, PUBLIC SERVICE

Arcata Planning Commission (1996-99); Executive Board member, Northcoast Garden for Children (built Arcata skateboard park, 1995-98); Arcata Budget Task Force (1994); public radio volunteer, KHSU-FM; previous Chapter President and Northern California Representative for California Native Plant Society; previous active member in Friends of Jolly Giant Creek, urban creek restoration; founding member, Humboldt Organized for People and the Environment (H.O.P.E. Coalition).
