The General Public Needs To Know

By Joe Parks

Candidate for Board Member; Clovis Unified School District; Trustee Area 2

This information is provided by the candidate
The general public needs to be kept better informed concerning the decisions made by the school board.
According to the Fresno Bee and the Clovis Independent newspapers; during the past year, there have been a number of problems that have occurred in the Clovis Unified School District that the general public did not learn about until well after the fact. In my opinion, it is the responsibility of the School Board to keep the general public informed of all events and other important matters that take place in the district, both good and not so good.

The general public needs to know the School Boards position on such matters as: the up coming $198 million dollar school bond, state test results concerning "all" the school children in the district, the problems concerning racial tolerance among students and the districts expected student growth for the next ten years. Also, I think the general public would like to know how the School Board intends to handle managed student growth and the teacher to student ratio as the district grows. Plus, why the suspected teacher "testing irregularities?"
