Candidate Statement

By Michael O'Hare

Candidate for Board Member; Fresno Unified School District; Trustee Area 6

This information is provided by the candidate
Education is the most important issue of all.

Our community's most important goal has to be a high-quality educational system. It has to prepare our youth for productive life in a fast-changing and complex world.

All children deserve the best. As the father of a FUSD graduate, I have been involved in the PTA and firmly believe in parental involvement. During my years on the Board I have visited each and every school in the district. I am always reminded that the student is the most important person in any school. The student is the purpose of our schools. We must focus all of our resources and energies on students and their academic achievement.

My community and volunteer work have brought me together with parents, teachers, administrators and community groups. This community knows that we are beset with rapid dramatic changes. I pledge to continue to face up to these difficult and complex issues always with our students and parents in mind.

My priorities are (1) improve student achievement, (2) ensure safe schools and (3) demand accountability from all stakeholders.

I ask for your support.
