Elected to the Council in 1992, I have demonstrated that I am an honest, experienced and responsive leader who considers the needs of all Clayton residents. I am committed to the preservation of Clayton's rich history and its historic places. I deal with the issues of today and plan responsibly for Clayton's future. I helped guide the Town Center Specific Plan, begun in 1988 and adopted in 1990, which requires that undeveloped areas of the Historic Town Center adhere to strict architectural guidelines and standards

I have worked tirelessly to preserve our ridgelines, creeks, trails and open spaces, both inside the City and those areas adjacent to us. In the early 90's, major development at Clayton's eastern border was imminent. I was very involved in the development of the Marsh Creek Specific Plan which ensures that any potential development next to Clayton's eastern border be consistent with Clayton values and goals. I have successfully defended that plan with the Board of Supervisors.

My Vision for Clayton

Clayton residents live in one of the most beautiful places in the Bay Area. I am totally committed to the preservation of our scenic vistas, ridgelines and slopes, the integrity of our open spaces and our award-winning trail system.

My vision for our town is to continue to work to enhance Clayton's charm and character. It includes:

  • a vibrant town center of small shops with historic ambience providing needed services for our residents;
  • recreational opportunities including a downtown park, and a joint-use gym at the middle school;
  • completion of the restoration of Endeavor Hall and its use as a community center;
  • allow Stagecoach/Pioneer Inn building to be replicated as original historic Clayton Hotel instead of requiring expensive restoration to the seriously out-of-code building. Please see more on this issue in the Issue Papers Section of this site.
  • completion of street improvements that will attract appropriate new businesses to our downtown;
  • continued responsible management of city resources and services for our citizens.

I have recently established a personal web site, which I plan to keep updated throughout the year. There you will find more information about me and my candidacy, City events and issues. My record of service to the Clayton community, regional activities, and list of accomplishments are detailed. I also share my views on the issues and the activities in our community. Clayton has three measures, O, P & Q, on the November ballot that will directly impact the future of Clayton. Copies of the ballot measure language are there, as well as my position on these critical issues. I welcome your feedback and ideas. Please feel free to contact me to discuss these and other issues concerning our wonderful community. It is the full and active participation with community members that enables me to represent your views on the City Council.
