This information is provided by the candidate
SENATOR FEINSTEIN IS LEADING THE CHARGE FOR BETTER HEALTH CARE AND EXPANDING RESEARCH EFFORTS TO FIND CURES TO LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESSESNo challenge today is more important to more Americans than improving our health care system. And no one is working harder to meet that challenge than Senator Dianne Feinstein.
Senator Feinstein is fighting for a real Patients' Bill of Rights, that takes decisions about treatment options out of the hands of penny-pinching HMO bureaucrats and allows patients to choose their own doctor. She's also working to pass bipartisan legislation to make health insurance companies more accountable to their patients and responsible for their decisions.
Another priority is expanding research efforts to find cures to life-threatening illnesses. As the sponsor of the historic legislation to circulate the Breast Cancer Research stamp, Senator Feinstein has been able to touch millions of women and their families whose lives have been shattered by breast cancer. Never before had a stamp monetarily benefited a specific cause, and to date it has raised over $10 million for Breast Cancer research.
The co-chair of the Senate Cancer Coalition, Dianne Feinstein is working to bring legislation in line with changing technologies. Specifically, she is helping to rewrite the National Cancer Act, and is calling for new guidelines in the treatment of cancer by advocating a "quarterback physician" for every patient diagnosed with cancer. This quarterback physician would serve to ease the burden and the loneliness that cancer patients encounter by helping them to understand the treatment options.
