KIM DEBOW BIOGRAPHY

UNITED STATES 48TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE

Kim DeBow continues a historic family tradition of service to country established by her father-in-law, Charles H. DeBow Jr. (1918-1986). A member of the first class of five Tuskegee Airmen, Lieutenant Colonel DeBow served in the U.S. Army Air Corps flying 52 combat missions during World War II.

Born December 27, 1960, Kim DeBow is the daughter of Sophie and the late Robert Covington of Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1978 Kim married Bill DeBow and worked during the early years of their marriage to allow Bill to complete college and receive his commission from the United States Navy.

As a "Navy Spouse" defined in Navy culture as "The Toughest Job in The Navy", Kim managed the home front. This support and the support of other military spouses, enabled Bill and thousands of other sailors, marines, airmen, soldiers and coast guardsmen to deploy as the first line of defense in the protection of The Constitution of The United States of America.

Demonstrating the "Semper Fi" spirit, Kim DeBow served our military community as a volunteer and staff counselor for the Navy Marine Corps Relief Societies at Camp Pendleton, California and Norfolk, Virginia from 1994 to August of 1999.

Kim DeBow returned to school in 1999 and was awarded an Associates Degree from Central Texas College. Kim is currently a candidate for the Bachelor of Arts Degree from Park University in May of 2000. Kim is attending classes through the Servicemembers Opportunity College program onboard Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. In addition to going to school, Kim DeBow is a Defense Hi-Tech Researcher for a Technology and Management Consulting Firm. Bill continues to serve Country and community in the United States Navy and as Vice-Chair of the Police and Fire Commission for Oceanside, California.

Kim and Bill DeBow have four children; Yvonne (20), a student at The University of Southern California (Alpha Delta Pi), twins David and Jessica (15) attending El Camino High School and Victory Christian School respectively, located in Oceanside, and Jacqueline (13) a student at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, also located in Oceanside.

Kim DeBow's past service to community has included: Commissioner, Parks and Recreation Commission for the City of Oceanside, Board member of the Historic Mission San Luis Rey Parish Advisory Board, and as a Board member of the Crest at Whelan Ranch Home Owners Association. Additionally, Kim DeBow has had extensive involvement in her children's schools.

A Republican Federated Woman, Kim DeBow is a member of the Oceanside Republican Women Federated, associate member of Carlsbad Republican Women Federated, and a member of the Oceanside Republican Club.

Furthering professional development and contributing to America's strength in Defense, Kim is a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).

Proud to be an American, Kim DeBow continues a historic family tradition of service to Country and community.
