  • Transportation: create an elected Regional Transportation Authority to consolidate all transportation funding.

Position Papers
Education
Increase in Ca K-12 education funding to the national average. Make literacy focus in Reading and Mathematics a priority. Increase beginning teachers' salaries to attract more qualified candidates. Fund school reform efforts that target student achievement. Support class size reduction at all levels. Give local schools more autonomy in spending state monies.
Transportation
Form an elected Regional Transportation Authority to consolidate all transportation funding. Create a transportation model, similar to our Bay Model. Oppose a sales tax increase to fund transportation.
Environment
Sacramento should encourage regional planning protection of our natural resources - air, water, forests, land use,and recycling.
