Funding Social Security and Medicare can cost only $1,000 for each baby boy and baby girl born in the U.S.A. The only problem is, we must establish an interim system to provide for all of us older people when WE retire.
Using President Reagan's Social Security Trust Fund, or at least the dollars of bonds therein, we have the problem half solved. The trust fund can grow by enough to endow retirement for the next 75 years. Following that, any debt remaining can be paid off with the trust fund.

See http://www.chaseforcongess.com for details of this viable means of escaping the regressive ponzi scheme of the current Social Security system of funding.
