SOME FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE CURRENT HAYWARD CITY COUNCIL:

Saturday, October 24, 1998: City Manager and Hayward City Council hold a "secret" budget meeting in the living room of the Eden Estates. Only two members of the public are able to discover its location.

Tuesday, 05-18-99: Hayward city council ejects two members of the public during "Public Comments" without good cause.

Tuesday, 12-14-99: Hayward city council admits political motivation and approves stifling public input by moving of "Public Comments" to later on the agenda of city council meetings. This is being done in order to thwart challengers to their positions in next year's city council elections from airing their concerns. Matt Jimenez admits collusion among council members: one of Hayward's citizen contacted Mr. Jimenez prior to the 8:00 p.m. city council meeting to protest his motion to move Public Comments to the end of the evening. Mr. Jimenez reportedly said that it "was a done deal!"

Tuesday, 02-15-00: Yvonne Critzer of Toro Development, long time supporter of Roberta Cooper, Bill Ward, Matt Jimenez, and other members of the current city council through direct donations and through endorsements and donations by the Hayward Chamber of Commerce, requests that her Fairway Shopping Center NOT be included in the survey along Mission Blvd. for redevelopment purposes because of financial hardship. Surprise! Surprise! The council gives her what she wants. As a thank you, Olden Henson gets to display his campaign signs at the Fairway Shopping Center and the incumbents get endorsed by the Hayward Chamber of Commerce.

Tuesday, 02-22-00: About 15 school age children are made to wait until after 10:00 p.m., late night, to speak under "Public Comments".
